I temporarily opened the flood gates on all ports and was able to FTP in as normal (not SFTP though, same issue regarding the keys). Still mostly roadblocked on this but it had some tentative success when modifying my security group. What is the best practice to generate key pairs and grant a cPanel account holder FTP access to their domain (and only their domain) when it is hosted on an AWS instance?
If possible I want to continue to use the cPanel generated FTP accounts to quarantine account owners do their domains the way I always have.
What I do not understand is whether I need to initiate this process in the AWS console or within cPanel. ppk much the way I did when I used putty to SSH into the server. I understand that this means I need to make and provide WinSCP a. In SFTP mode I got an error to the extent of "Disconnected: No Supported authentication methods available (server sent: publickey."
Cpanel ftp password#
Next I went to setup FTP/SFTP in WinSCP the way I have for other accounts created on other cPanel installs using the account user name, password and ftp. Once I got cPanel running I proceded to make an account, point the DNS from godaddy to the IP, add a hello world page via cPanels file manager and hit the page. I have manually enabled: 21, 22, 80, 443, 2082, 2083, 2086, 2087 which I assume should be sufficient for this task? (*)Note, I did not open the floodgates of the firewall as the tutorial instructed.
